Based on Bhagavad Gita talk given by Ma during Malaysia Janan Yajna at SIRD, Malaysia on 20 September 2023

In this Satsang based on the Bhagavad Gita, Ma makes an in-depth analysis of why the mind becomes turbulent and unstable and how a seeker can lead the mind towards calmness and stability.

A seeker must strive to acquire the qualities of a knower, who is stable-minded and calm. The sadhaka must make efforts to rid the mind of desires and expectations and make the mind contented. He must try not to be agitated by unhappiness or sorrow, he must learn to be even to them and forbear them.

All scriptures speak about the necessity of restraining the senses and the mind. One must discriminate over every situation and not come under the sway of the sense organs. The mind must
be able to rein in the senses properly; the discriminating intelligence must be able to guide the mind in the right direction. The intelligence can lead the mind to eternal happiness and stability, only when it is enlightened by being established in Brahman/God.

When the mind is turbulent, the seeker must introspect over the cause for it. He must try to withdraw from external situations and remain focused on the Self. To hold on to the Self and have internal calmness and steadiness, one must purify the mind, make it free of desires. One must live in the world without any undue desires, free from all cravings, possessiveness, and egoism.

Ma reminds the listeners that the same Self is in all beings. Only the external forms are different, internally all are the same. The Sadhana is to understand, by repeated reflection, that Self is in everything. Understanding that the body, senses, mind, intelligence, all organs, emotions, memory and capability to work and think are all given by God, one must offer all activities to God and take refuge in Him.
