In this Satsang, Swamiji delves deep into the message of the fifth chapter of the Bhagavad Gita. He discusses how and with what attitude one must perform all activities in life.

A wise person engages in all actions renouncing all delusional clinging to it. He performs all activities for the sole purpose of gaining self-purification and inner expansion. Sri Krishna clearly shows the stark contrast between the activities of a yogi and a bhogi. A yogically-oriented man performs all activities, mentally renouncing all the results. When this evenness adorns his being, he attains peace. But the man who does not have the yogic attitude becomes bound because he is gripped by desire and greed for the results of the action.

Having mentally renounced all actions, the self-controlled Yogi is established comfortably in the Soul. He neither acts nor causes anyone else to act. He is established in the understanding that he is the Soul, which does not act at all.

Sri Krishna says that the Lord of the universe has not created doership in anyone, nor has he ordained actions on anyone. He does not also link anyone with the result of the actions. What acts and activates is the nature and qualities prevalent in each individual. The Universal Lord neither partakes in anybody’s sin, nor does he partake anybody’s virtue. But true knowledge is enveloped by ignorance and people are deluded by their own ignorance.

A wise man performs all activities being free of delusional clinging and a feeling of doership and enjoyership. Swamiji urges seekers to develop this attitudinal orientation and renunciation. This is an inner renunciation which will lead to ever-lasting bliss, inner abundance and fullness.
