In this Satsang, through slide presentations, Swamiji explains the deeper significance of the initial mantras of the Upanishad. When the mantra is chanted with an identification with the Truth, it has great power and potential to transform the person chanting and also the surrounding atmosphere. By proper chanting and pronunciation, one can go from gross to subtle and finally get dissolved in the Universal Consciousness.

The Upanishad speaks about the importance of the right pronunciation of each letter and proper modulation. It is very important to generate the words with a measure of elongation, right accent, balance, harmony and consistency in flow. A seeker must have an innate discipline to produce each syllable and word perfectly. By proper pronunciation, identifying with the meaning, the seeker can get a touch of the Ultimate all-pervading Truth.

Mundaka Upanishad says that there are two kinds of knowledge—Apara (inferior) and Para (Superior). The superior knowledge is that by which the imperishable Truth is attained. All the four
Vedas and the Vedangas (six limbs of learning necessary to understand the Vedas) come under the inferior Knowledge. The discipline of pronunciation, all rituals, knowledge of grammar and etymology, knowledge and adherence to the rhythm and the meter, and the knowledge of astrology and astronomy help the seeker to cultivate a disciplined and harmonious personality and become fit to seek the superior knowledge.

In the Taittiriya Upanishad, the student prays that both he and his teacher may have the impersonal dimension, whereby they can work for the welfare of the society. They must be able to disseminate Brahma Vidya (the knowledge of the Supreme Truth) to spread auspiciousness in the society. The student also prays that both he and his teacher should have the brilliance of Truth.
