In this Satsang, Ma speaks about how one can attain a calm mind. The mind becomes calm when Sattva Guna becomes predominant. When the mind becomes pure and saatvika, it brings about a transformation in one’s personality.
What is a pure mind? The characteristics of a pure mind are placidity of the mind, experience of the self, peace, contentment, exhilaration and wholesome abidance in the Supreme Self. By virtue of this, one tastes supreme bliss continuously and effortlessly.
When the buddhi is Saatvika, it is pure, subtle and brilliant. The self is reflected in such a buddhi. The effort of the seeker must be to make the buddhi more and more Saatvika. The scriptures also say that those who seek liberation must abandon evil traits and tendencies and cultivate good qualities. Such a mind will become placid.
Ma emphasizes that a seeker must sincerely try to cultivate good and noble qualities. He must also deeply and constantly do Vichara (introspection) on the Truth. When the intelligence is focused on the Supreme Truth, all desires get annihilated. With the removal of desires, the mind becomes absolutely quiet, like a lamp without fuel.
