In this Satsang, Swamiji says that the Upanishad does not take us away from the world saying that it is an illusion. It tries to give us a right understanding of the world. The goal of the Upanishad is to guide us to the Truth and help us divinize every moment of life.

The Upanishad speaks about the three Vyaahritis—The sacred words—Bhuh (the earth), Bhuvah (Antariksha) and Suvah (Heaven). These three Vyaahritis are the essence of Veda mantras. They rise from and merge into Pranava (Om) or Brahman and they are the beeja mantras of creation of the world. Our mind must be filled with the bhava of the Vyaahritis and be led to Brahman. The fourth Vyaahriti is the Atma and other three Vyaahritis are its limbs.

How to contemplate on the Vyaahritis? Bhuh can be contemplated as the earth, Bhuvah can be thought of as the intermediate space, Suvah as the heavens or the world of lights and Mahah as the light of Consciousness which pervades the other three.

A seeker can also contemplate on the Vyaahritis as powers of nature. Bhuh can be considered as Agni, energy, Bhuvah as Vayu, Suvah as the Sun and Mahah can be thought of as Chandrama. It is by the radiation of the moon that all other luminaries are glorified.

The Vyaahritis can be contemplated upon as Vedas—Bhuh as Rg Veda, Bhuvah as Sama Veda and Suvah as Yajur Veda. Final contemplation (Upasana)--all these Vyaahritis with their limbs must be contemplated upon as Brahman. It is the glory of Brahman which is glorifying all Vedas.

A seeker can also take to contemplation of Vyaahritis as life breaths (shvaasa)—Bhuh can be thought of as Prana (upward lifebreath), Bhuvah as Apana (downward breath) and Suvah as Vyaana and Mahah as all the food and energy (Anna). By the power of Anna, Prana, Apana, Vyana are getting empowered.

The four Vyaahritis, each with their four aspects, represent Purusha (our real identity). One who knows all these aspects knows the Brahman. The Upanishad says that all the Devas are pleased with such a person.

Swamiji will be discussing 'Voice of Upanishads'. The Global Satsang will be based on Taittiriya Upanishad. | Live Satsangs with Spiritual Masters on Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday at 8 pm IST/10:30 am EDT/ 10:30 pm MST.
