An informal satsang with Nutan Swamiji with Q& A.

This Satsang was part of Jnana Yajna in USA in 2024.
Location: Residence Inn Marriot Tustin, Orange County, 15181 Newport Ave, Tustin, California 92780
Date: 17 June 2024

In this Q & A session, Swami Nirviseshananda Tirtha replies to many queries of the participants of the Retreat. He handles a wide range of questions effortlessly in his characteristic style, speaking about the meaning and significance of his own ascetic name, aim of Spirituality, the purpose of meditation, and the wholesome process of chanting.

Meditation is a process to discover the Atma but it is not the ultimate attainment. It is only the means to take us to the ultimate fruition. Samadhi in meditation is a time-limited state. The ultimate state is to perceive that the whole universe is a manifestation of that Self. It is realizing that the entire universe is appearing in the Atma. The real knowledge is when the Atma experienced in meditation is also experienced in the interactive and wakeful state. Without that, the mind will not attain peace, cheerfulness, and freedom.

How can one practice spirituality when others around are not interested? By the practice of spirituality, one must bring about a transformation in oneself. When others see the changes, they might also become spiritual. If that does not happen, the pursuit of a seeker is to remain unaffected by the negative atmosphere also. He must accept the world as it is and others as they are and embrace everybody and make himself universal.

Chanting is a very important part of Sadhana. One must chant correctly with proper pronunciation, understanding the meaning of the words. The chanting will not be perfect till the seeker is able to have the emotional association (bhava) with the message of the verse.

Swamiji emphasizes that a seeker must value the supreme Truth more than anything else. There must be a sincere yearning and dedication for it. By letting go of everything, he must live in the world with the spirit of renunciation.
