Ma Gurupriya ji's reflections on Poojya Swamiji's morning messages (Prabhata Rashmih)
Date: 12 December 2024
Venue: Vijnana Bhavan, Narayanashrama Tapovanam

Explaining the deep meaning of a chapter (Self-realization—an All-time Sadhana), from Poojya Swamiji’s book ‘Prabhata Rashmih,’ Ma emphasizes that it is the same Self everywhere. A seeker must realize it through every thought, action, and interaction. One who sees the same Self everywhere and understands that it is the same Self in happiness and unhappiness, is the greatest Yogi.

A seeker may experience the consciousness within the body during meditation, but to experience it during the wakeful and interactive hours is challenging. We may feel that everything is God/Self, but the ego of ‘I’ness and ‘mine’ness persists.

The imperceptible Self/God pervades the whole universe. He activates all our speech, actions, and empowers our senses and all organs. Knowing this, the seeker must dissolve the ego and ‘mine’ness (possessiveness). The ability to leave and disconnect and live is the greatest spiritual quality. This is ego-effacement.

Ma reads out a portion of her spiritual diary, in which she writes about her conversations with the indwelling Lord. She prays that her ego-effacement should be more and more complete and that she should lose her separate identity and become one with the universal Lord.

From birth, we develop the ego of being an individual and it grows with our body’s growth. Every time the ego comes up, desires crop up, hatred arises. The seeker must find them immediately and remove them. Instead of thinking that the family belongs to him, he must realize that the whole world belongs to him, it is contained in him, the Self. The seeker must accept every action and interaction as an opportunity for ego-effacement.

Shlokas chanted in the Satsang:
3:25 - आत्मौपम्येन सर्वत्र समं…Bhagavad Gita 6.32
7:26 - मया ततमिदं सर्वं जगदव्यक्तमूर्तिना.....Bhagavad Gita 9.4
17:12 - योऽन्तःप्रविश्य मम वाचमिमां प्रसुप्तां...Srimad Bhagavatam 4.9.6
