221 – Realizing Our Supreme Identity 04 | Bhagavad Gita Chapter 15 | Swami Nirviseshananda Tirtha

540 Views | 1 month ago

Swamiji recapitulates the verses done in the previous Satsang, which speak about the perishable nature of the samsaara vriksha (World tree), which has no beginning or end. The seeker must cut this firm Ashwattha tree using the sharp sword of Asanga (detachment). Holding well to the detachment, the seeker must take up spiritual enquiry.

The seeker should strive to be free of pride and delusion and Sanga. To attain the supreme, he must be free of desires and should overcome the hold of all dualities on his mind. By constantly introspecting on the imperishable Self, he will attain the goal.

The changeless, imperishable Truth cannot be revealed to us by the sun, moon, or fire. The Self is not an external object that can be revealed. This Supreme abode is beyond the cyclic nature of the causal universe.

The eternal, imperishable Supreme becomes the individual Soul (Jiva) and drawing from Nature it forms the five senses and the mind. By presiding over the senses, the Jiva enjoys the world objects. A deluded man fails to perceive the Soul residing in the body and experiencing world objects. He fails to understand that the inner presence alone animates and activates the senses. But a sincere, striving seeker perceives the Supreme as residing in his own within.

Swamiji exhorts all seekers not to get trapped by the enjoyments of this world but dissolve the knots of ignorance, apply Viveka moment to moment, and realize one’s own real identity.
