224 – Realizing Our Supreme Identity 07 | Bhagavad Gita Chapter 15 | Swami Nirviseshananda Tirtha

474 Views | 1 week ago

In this Satsang, Swamiji summarizes the 15th chapter of Bhagavad Gita and explains the Sadhana of a seeker. Bhagavad Gita says that a seeker must firmly cut the tree of worldliness using the sharp weapon of Asanga (dis-attachment) and take up wholesome enquiry. It enumerates qualities which will help a seeker cultivate discrimination and an unaffected state of mind.

Discerning and striving seekers perceive the Supreme everywhere. Everything they do becomes an offering to the Universal Lord. They realize that the consciousness is equally present everywhere and in everything. The Supreme (Purushottama), the unchanging substratum, sustains the whole world. When a seeker comes to know the Purushottama, he becomes free of all delusion and he worships the Supreme through all his thoughts, actions and attitudes.

What is the pursuit of a seeker? Spiritual Sadhana can be of two kinds—Non-interactional Sadhana (which involves meditation, contemplation etc) and Interactional Sadhana. In non-interactional pursuit, a seeker tries to meditate to find out his own real identity. In interactional Sadhana, through all his activities, speech, interactions, he strives for an expansive vision. Opting for the auspicious path, he is connected to the inner Presence. By this practice, every action becomes a Yajna (offering to the Lord) and life gets divinized. Interactional sublimity leads to better absorption and meditational absorption helps attain interactional sublimity and impersonality.

Nutan Swamiji urges us to be sincere and serious in our pursuit. He urges us to focus on inculcating Viveka buddhi and graduate to Brahma Buddhi - a state where one sees everything as Brahman.
