In this Satsang, Swamiji begins by elaborating on the Sadhana prescribed in the verses discussed in the previous few Satsangs.
The seeker must strive to cut the deep-rooted tree of worldliness by the weapon of Asanga (dis-attachment), made sharp by Viveka (discrimination). Holding well to the Asanga, the seeker must take up wholesome enquiry and take refuge in the Supreme. Removing all negative qualities and incorporating noble qualities, he must take to the sadhana of withdrawing within. The pursuit also is to remind oneself constantly about one’s own real nature, which is unchanging, unaffected, universal.
How to understand the universal Supreme? Bhagavad Gita says that whatever brilliance is there in the Sun, moon and in the fire, that brilliance is from the Consciousness alone. Pervading and permeating the whole earth, the Supreme sustains all beings and nourishes and supports all kinds of herbs. Manifesting as fire, being associated with Prana and Apana (upward and downward movement of the breath), the supreme digests all the four kinds of food.
The Consciousness is established in the heart of all beings. Memory, knowledge, forgetfulness are from the Supreme alone. It is to be known through the Vedas; It is the creator of Vedanta, and the knower of Vedanta also. This supreme Consciousness exists in every aspect of creation. It is for the seeker to go within and find the truth of the Universe within. Swamiji emphasizes the need for a seeker to divinize his/her whole life, by taking to the Sadhana ingrained in the verses.
